Don is an experienced Board Director, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and consultant with extensive knowledge in financial services – asset management, wealth management, insurance and investment banking. Don has a broad international background in US and UK based global roles in companies like Old Mutual, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley. He has deep technical acumen in compensation, talent management, culture development, leadership and M&A.
In his executive roles Don served as Group Human Resources Director of Old Mutual plc from May 2009 until March 2017. He was based in London and responsible for all human resources functions globally. Prior to Old Mutual, Don worked at Merrill Lynch for twelve years. He served as Senior Vice President and Head of Human Resources for their Global Wealth Management Division. Prior to that role, he led Human Resources for the Global Markets and Investment Banking Division. He originally joined Merrill Lynch in 1997 as Head of International Human Resources, based in London, where he was responsible for all human resource activities outside of the US.
Previously Don worked for Morgan Stanley & Co. for 13 years and served in a variety of senior HR roles in both New York and London, including Global Head of Compensation, Benefits and Human Resource Systems. He began his career as a consultant in human resources.
Don was a Board Director of Old Mutual Asset Management (OMAM) until June 2017. He served on the Compensation and Nominations at Governance Committees.
Don holds a B.A. in Economics and English from Hamilton College, an M.A. in Industrial Relations from the University of Warwick (Fulbright Scholar) and a Certificate in Corporate Governance from INSEAD.
